What was the error?
booked a private medical consultation for my son, paid the £225 fee in advance. received a letter saying this was the max fee. 7 days later received an invoice for another £94. Rung up to find out more.. was told we get “this call all the time” . i asked to raise a complaint stating that this was fraudalent charge as the appointment letter categorically stated that the max fee was £225 and any further fees would be clearly explained. This could be a geniuine oversight but worse could actually be systematic fleecing of customers at a time when health is higher priority than the cost.
What would have been a better experience?
The private hospital should have immediately credited my account the fraudelent charge. they should then have offered me a goodwill gesture monetary or otherwise for bringing their procedural errors to their attention: poorly worded letters and lack of warning and acceptance of additional fees.
